Emily Gilmore is a Marriage and Family Therapist (CA license # LMFT 111457) who enjoys working with people of all ages. She has clinical experience with a wide variety of issues in settings such as elementary and middle schools, community college health centers, and hospice care. She has particular interest in life transitions such as young adulthood, marriage, parenthood, aging, elder care, grief and loss. Other areas of special focus include anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and personal goals/values. Emily’s therapeutic style is relaxed and collaborative—she works with patients to help change their relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions so they can better cope with the upheaval and uncertainty that are parts of life. She believes in the innate healing capability within each individual, and she encourages patients to focus on their strengths and resources in the face of changes and challenges.
Emily offers a practical and realistic perspective while providing a warm, welcoming, and safe environment. Her psychotherapeutic orientation is integrative, including elements from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), solution-focused therapies, and mindfulness, among others. She uses techniques and approaches best suited to a client’s situational needs and communication style. Her goal is to empower individuals to identify and practice ways they can move forward when they feel “stuck.” Emily looks forward to joining clients on their journey toward increased awareness and a more fulfilling life.
